 After visiting the website “Cool English”, I think it is a helpful website for students. Cool English is established by MOE. There are two sections－learning and game area. Because of games, these can reduce the feeling of rejection in order to stimulate students’ interests and curiosity in learning English. For example, when I was in the high school, I didn’t like our current English class because it was a little boring. We just read and memorized some texts, words, and grammar. Many students hate this course. Also, many schools subscribed to different English magazines at that time. For me, this was my savior. Because I can read articles about various topics, not just learn by rote. Cool English is a good and useful tool for students. You can choose any categories that you want to improve. Also, you can take a quiz about what you just learned and read the analysis in detailed. Then, you definitely can make significant progress. Cool English has many online resources. For example, it classifies vocabulary into different levels and classifies grammar into many detailed topics and has further explanations of those courses. As for weakness, I think it is writing practice. Although there are many handouts on the website, I think the most important point is to practice. As the saying goes, “Practice makes perfect.” Therefore, If the website can provide an online writing revision system that will be better. Because I think some students are shy, they won’t pluck up the courage to ask their teachers whether they are available for helping revise the writing. I know this will be a burden for teachers, but I think this may be helpful for some people.

My Autonomous English/Language Learning Plan

In this semester, I've learned a lot of useful online learning tools and websites which can improve my English ability in the fields of reading, listening, writing, and speaking. My learning plan for English will first focus on reading and writing, and then listening and speaking. Especially practice speaking, vocabulary, and grammar. First, to understand more content and advance my speed of reading, I will use AWL and some news websites. AWL can increase my vocabulary, so this is a basis that I must know the words in particular amount of words and be familiar with the common vocabulary. After getting ready for that, I will go to the websites, like CNN and BBC, to read extensively to connect with the world and to know more things. Because of the Internet development, reading those foreign news websites is not limited anymore. We can download many apps on our cellphones and then read on the MRT or the bus.
