In this semester, I've learned a lot of useful online learning tools and websites which can improve my English ability in the fields of reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
My learning plan for English will first focus on reading and writing, and then listening and speaking. Especially practice speaking, vocabulary, and grammar.
First, to understand more content and advance my speed of reading, I will use AWL and some news websites. AWL can increase my vocabulary, so this is a basis that I must know the words in particular amount of words and be familiar with the common vocabulary. After getting ready for that, I will go to the websites, like CNN and BBC, to read extensively to connect with the world and to know more things. Because of the Internet development, reading those foreign news websites is not limited anymore. We can download many apps on our cellphones and then read on the MRT or the bus. My goal is to read at least three different categories of news and later can finish in 15 to 20 minutes or less in order to speed up my reading pace, which will be helpful in English verification.
Second, reading is related to writing. But I think that a good writing needs not only extensive vocabulary but also correct grammar. So I think WriteAway and COCA are the tools I want to use. Sometimes I finish an essay and want to check whether there is any typo, wrong tense or something else, but I cannot find someone help me, WriteAway is a good helper. As the previous article which I said about this website, although it cannot correct me perfectly, it still gives a lot of help. As for COCA, because of its corpus and collocation, that is useful while we write an essay or academic writing in order to prevent from some unnecessary grammar mistakes.
The last section is speaking and listening. I will use Voicetube, Elllo, and TED. Those three websites can improve my speaking and listening ability. Because they all have various types of videos, this advantage is encouraging for me to learn every day. Those two skills are important to make it habit so that I can improve.
