My Response to The Graveyard Book
●
How much did you
enjoy or not enjoy reading this book?
I do enjoy
reading The Graveyard Book and I think it is indeed a special book for three
reasons. First of all, it is about an unusual life of an unusual little boy who
has been growing up in a graveyard; Secondly, I think the beginning of the book
is terrifying because the writer creates a crime scene in which Bod's families
are all killed except for himself. Finally, there are many things that readers
can learn from this book, such as friendship, parenting, and even bullying.

How easy or
difficult was this book to read and what new idea did you get from this book?
From my
perspective, this book is quite difficult to read because of the vocabulary it
contained. Some of the characters, who may have lived hundreds of years ago,
may use the language at that time and that could be incomprehensible to me.
Besides, I also learned that the position of the narrator does not necessarily
represent the writer's.

Which part was
your favorite?
There are several
parts that I like in this book. For example, when Bod has decided that he is
going to a school because the education he can receive is limited in the
graveyard. Silas tried to talk him out of it. Instead of feeling scared, Bod
says If I go outside in the world the question isn't who will keep me safe from
him, it's who will keep him safe from me " I think what Bod says really
shows his great courage to the outside world. Despite what happened to his
family he's not afraid of the danger, and which also makes him a decent person
who protects other kids from being bullied at school. Most importantly, I think
what makes Bod decent is the environment and the people that he grew up with,
although he has lost his family since he was a baby, he knows he still has a
group of family in the graveyard who really cares about him so he will be able
to maintain an innocent heart when he's faced with challenges. To Bod, they are
not just friends, they are more like families.
