I.
Motivation:
1. As we grow up,
we gradually realize the importance of English, especially in the modern
international world. We want to help the kids learn the English vocabulary, so
they can have an upper hand in future life.
2. Why choose
vocabulary? Well, vocabulary is the fundamental component in English. Growing
up, we realize how our vocabulary is often lacking, and how important it is to
consistently learn, starting from a young age.
3. As we grew up,
learning English was quite a chore, often not fun, monotonous and boring, we
hope our game can be interesting, fun and entertaining, so kids can have fun
and want to learn more.
II. Objectives:
1. We hope young
children (primary school students) can expand their English vocabulary knowledge
by playing our game. The vocabulary will be about daily life objects at home,
so it will be very practical and familiar.
2. We want the
players to have fun playing our game. Having fun while learning is very
important, and we hope we can spark their interest in learning English.
3. We will try to
make use of computer assistance, especially to make the game more entertaining
and effective, hopefully show kids the flexibility and fun you can have by
using CALL.
III. Audience:
Our target audience will be elementary school
students. Because of this, we will try to make the game simple, not too complex
and hard, making it about something they are familiar with, well-known, and
would come in contact easily. So the vocabulary and the game itself will be
easy. Also, we would like to make it fun and entertaining, attractive to
younger children, therefore the theme of cartoons.
IV. Content:
There will be five questions in this game. Jerry the mouse
will start running away from Tom the cat. In each question, he will go to a
different place in the house, and encounter an object. Each question will have
3 choices to choose from. Two wrong choices will lead to a mouse trap, delaying
your escape, while the correct one will lead to cheese as an reward. If you answer
wrong 3 times, you will get caught by Jerry.
V. Design:
The theme will be around Tom and Jerry, a
classic American cartoon. We hope by introducing something they probably
haven’t seen before would be new and interesting. Also the theme we think, will
be very fitting for kids. Hopefully they can have fun while playing our game.
